I am also going thru a really hard period working far away from my love one. The job I am doing started to be longer than I thought - was suppose to be away for a week and now it seems forever. I wish I had brought over some nice music that she had compiled for me. I miss her so much.
Guess in this day and age some people just feel shy showing their feelings in front of others esp in Asia.
Just ask yourself would you give your love one a big kiss in public? If you can do that then holding hand later in life is just a small part of it.

Yes men enjoy getting flowers as well. A couple of months ago, a lady friend knew that I was not feeling too good - depress from my business - and got me a nice daisy as we were going on a road trip.
Truely it brighten my day. It was on my dashboard throughout the journey and each time I took a peek at it ... a smile roll across my face.
